High Power KTP/532 nm Laser System (potassiumtitanyl-phosphate)
80 Watt average/280 Watt peak power

The GreenLight PV System of LASERSCOPE- FDA approved - allows the urologist to treat rapidly and mini-invasively glands of virtually any size (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia - BPH - or enlarged prostate).
The Photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP) uses a highly hemostatic wavelength and is nearly bloodless. In most of the cases, it is performed under spinal anesthesia. The laser energy at 80 W is delivered by a side-firing fiber through a continuous-flow cystoscope.
Because the system operates superficially (0.8 mm) and does not heat up large tissue volumes, it avoids gross necrosis of tissue, edema or delayed sloughing.
The KTP/532 green light is highly absorbed
in oxy-hemoglobin and minimally absorbed in water. This makes the system, unlike other lasers, a uniquely appropriate tool for a non-contact soft tissue vaporization in a liquid environment.
The effect of the Greenlight PVP wavelength is so hemostatic that even patients on anticoagulants may be treated with little fear of complications.
